Some would say that we live on a global plantation controlled by rich bankers and Illuminati styled organizations. That may be true, but that is not what we are discussing today. What we will discuss is the politics that affect the African-American Community.
Many have heard me say the phase “Plantation Politics,” and may not know what I am referring to, or how it really pertains to the daily life. Plantation Politics is referring to a train of thought, which permeates through the Diaspora of African-American thought. It is the reason why we cannot completely get together to work in one direction for one united goal.
Let me backup and break “Plantation Politics” down. The definition of Plantation- is a large farm or estate, usually in a tropical or subtropical country, where crops are grown for sale in distant markets. The definition of Politics - is a process by which groups of people make collective decisions. The term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, but politics has been observed in other group interactions, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power" and refers to the regulation of a political unit, and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.
Plantation Politics is the methods and tactics applied by a group of people who were subject to brutal enslavement, with no compensation for the work that was done to make a country rich from the export of the main cash crop, and the application of social relations between “authority or power”and the “powerless”; the psychological damage, and the lack of professional assistance to cope with the mentality created by 411 years of oppression.
How we relate to one another, and how we bring about change is a direct consequence of how, as a people, we were programmed to act or react to stimuli put before us in forms of obstacle, and demoralization as a people. One of the lasting affects of slavery is the “breeder/stud” psychosis. Psychosis - is a loss of contact with reality, usually including false beliefs about what is taking place or who one is (delusions).
The black male as “stud” & the black female as “breeder” is one of the most pervasive problems we face. There was no premium put on the Black Family unit staying together on the plantations. The death rate amongst slaves was high. To replace their losses, plantation owners encouraged the slaves to have children. Childbearing started around the age of thirteen, and by twenty, the women slaves were expected to have four or five children. The children were often times sold off to other plantations, and the vicious cycle repeated itself, perpetually until it became melted into the physic of, the male not to value family, and the female to continue to be the breeder.
The psychosis goes even further when the black male picks up the traits of the oppressor by taking on the role of “the pimp.” The pimp “with all of his hoes,” “pimps up,hoes down,” with the woman becoming the source of income through sex. Alternatively, the female continuing to breed, bringing more babies into the world to be used as free labor in the prison industrial complex, due to pathology brought on from physical and mental devastation on the slave plantations. The “I don’t need a man syndrome,” while still bringing babies into the world without a strong family unit.
The lack of family structure brings about the almost anti-unity stance we find amongst our people. In one of my earlier posts I stated, “I don't believe in making women sluts and whores.” This is one of my pillars, so to speak. The woman is the most important vessel on the planet. She is where we are created again. If she is not mentally stable, is not physically strong, the children birthed from her womb are not able to carry on our race, and we will fade from existence due to lack of direction from “the mother’s hand.” The old saying “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” is oh so true; but what if we are not mentally awake to see the importance of breaking the spiraling cycle of fractured family units?
A strong family structure, helps us to build a strong political structure, which in turn helps to build a strong governmental structure that helps us determine in which way our community will develop and grow. Realizing we must break from what happened to us on the plantations of America means more than forgetting. It means we must first learn the history, be able to tell the history without fear, and take the steps to correct what we have done that may be a repeat of that history. For that is what his(our)story is for, so we will not make the same mistakes again!
The young black male must be told why it is irresponsible to try to show, through sex, that he is a man. It must be reinforced to him that education is the key to break the cycle of the “stud.” The young black female must be told why she must strive to educate herself, and break the cycle of “the breeder.” It must be taught to them, less in a religious framework, but more in a historical framework—with the facts concerning slavery—it’s impact on us today, and with the education component placed as the most important factor to African-Americans truly breaking the bonds of mental slavery, if not physical.
If we do not do this, we will always suffer from Plantation Politics.

Many people have a misconception on who is the geek, who is the freak, and how both play off one another to bring about what we see today in modern music, and entertainment.
Take the days of P.T. Barnum. If you do not know whom P.T. Barnum is, look him up-- stay up right now! P.T. Barnum created attractions, which were called “Freak Shows.” They dealt with the strange, the odd, and even the grotesque. The oddities drew crowds from miles around when P.T. would set up camp bringing “the amazing” to a town.
The actors or should we say the entertainers in this troop of so called misfits were considered by many to be the freaks in the accretion, but in actuality they were the entertainment for voyeuristic freaks who came to see the geeks on display!
Yes, that is right, the freak is the person who watches the odd creature performing, and the geek is the odd creature the freak comes to see. Freak Show or “The Show For Freaks” as it is really called, is about creating the right atmosphere with the right entertainment, which will bring “the freak” out of an individual, to the point, that he or she is aroused to curiosity, and are willing to pay money to be a voyeur!
It would not be good money practice to dis the very people you would try and make a buck or two off. Therefore, it was better to call the whole extravaganza “Freak Show”.
However, how does this play out today—and where does the “P.T. Barnum” come into this unique relationship?
It is very important in any business you conduct, to know what role you play. For the masses that need or want to be entertained, not so much—as stated above. The person, who plays the geek, in the get money scenario, many times does not realize that he or she is the geek, and this is where the trouble lies.
The entertainer is the geek. He or she is what the freak pays to see. Understanding this relationship is very important for the geek, as he or she will ultimately be of no use one day! The masses are beguiled into thinking the geek is somehow, because of what can be done musically, better than they are—making the masses want to see the person who is so talented.
Who drove the masses into such a frenzy that they would want to see such a talented entertainer? The answer is P.T. Barnum of course! “P.T.Barnum” in this case is the record company, the agent, the manager, the DJ, the promoter who pushes the likeness of, the music of, the talent of the geek to the extent that the mass group of consumers feel it their duty to purchase what is produced, and to see what they have fallen in love with!
What is the end for the geek in this arrangement of controlled voyeurism? If he or she is intelligent, he or she will realize their role and will save as much money as they can, or they will study to become “P.T. Barnum”! If he or she did not study, one day, like so many before, he or she will be thrown away—replaced by another considered younger and better than the last.
This is why it is very important to know as an entertainer, a model, a dancer, a poet, etc., that one is a geek. However, what a geek does with that information is what sets him or her apart from countless others who have walked along the path of entertainment.
Take Ice T as an example. He describes it as a “pimp and hoe” relationship! He said he pimps himself now, he understands the dynamic; this is why Ice T moved from a record company over him, to acting, to producing and directing others who are the next geeks up for the masses to consume.
Another person who has transcended from being only entertainment is Usher. He studied the industry he is in, and he gives the next generation the opportunity to entertain under his banner—in his stable of artists. He is a true showman like P.T. Barnum!
The big question in all of this is, will those who have chosen entertainment over education as a goal be able to transform themselves into something more than a geek, or will they fall to the wayside like so many before—unrecognized, used up and discarded?
The answer lies within deep self-examination, and first accepting that he or she has chosen to be “the geek,” and once he or she understands/accepts this, then it is time to find the “P.T. Barnum” who can make them desirable enough for “the freaks” to pay to see them. The showman insures that for many life times to come there will be geeks & freaks!

In my opinion, C-Span can not be trusted. Whomever made the decision to censor Minister Farrakhan by using the excuse that there was some "technique difficulties," in my estimation, should be fired. But it is great that The Nation Of Islam had its own cameras there to record what Minister Farrakhan said during Tavis Smiley's "We Count! The Black Agenda is the America Agenda" symposium. Begin with part 1, and watch all five uncut clips of Mister Farrakhan's remarks. I'm disappointed in C-Span, I thought they could be trusted, but they can't!!

The call to action that came from the symposium Tavis Smiley held on March 20th, 2010, the expression for the necessity to push President Barack Obama to advance the Black Agenda was clarified for me. It became oh so clear when Michael Eric Dyson spoke on how we pushed presidents, who were not African-Americans, to put the needs of black people on the policy agendas, and how it should be no different just because Pres. Barack Obama is African-American.
Indeed, Tavis Smiley may have hit a wall with Black People in America because it sounded like he was hating on then Sen. Barack Obama. When Tavis would speak on Sen. Obama, it sounded as if he was worried about his standing with his backers of "The Covenant With Black America." He may have thought he would be the first African-American President Of The United States Of America, and with the arrival of Senator Obama on the scene, this would jeopardize his chances to see his goal fully recognized. This is purely conjecture.
What is not conjecture is Tavis Smiley may have been on to something, but he made one mistake, or should I say, in my opinion, one misstep. He was uses to people listening and loving every word that came from his mouth. He was/is for his people, but his people began to abandon him when he began to be critical of Barack Obama.
The misstep I speak of happened in this way. Tavis' words were valued, in my estimation, he thought he could do no wrong, and he forgot to pull back to take a moment to educate/inform the people on what has happened in the past. In my opinion, he assumed that everyone knew-- were educating themselves on past history where Black Politicians were concerned, but that was not the case!
Plus, Tavis was busy making sure the covenant was completed and was in the hands of politicians, policymakers, activists, etc., whom he thought could, along with his staff, begin to activate, what was in the covenant, into policy framework.
The symposium was the missing piece in the puzzle, so to speak! If he had been able to address his concerns with a table of esteemed leaders, such as he convened on March 20th, 2010, he could have educated the masses, who went along with the wave of enthusiasm 'to have the first Black President elected,' on how all presidents from Roosevelt toJohnson to Clinton to Bush have to be pushed to see the Black Agenda advanced, and how it would not be any different because Barack Obama is African-American.
That was Tavis' mistake in my opinion, and maybe it is a little bit of him thinking his work would be pushed to the wayside because of Barack Obama becoming the 44th President Of The United States. Maybe, maybe not. We probably will never know!
Action, movement by us for us was the greatest message given from the symposium. As many may know or may not know, when the candidate Obama's street teams set down in Cleveland, I had my own posters made pushing for Barack Obama. I was registering people to vote from my store, and I had been registering people since 1993 when I became a registrar of voters.
Like Tavis Smiley, Prof. Cornell West, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Jessie Jackson Sr., and countless others, who have been in the struggle, I do my part! So, the call to action, for me, from what I heard, means we have to organize and get out the vote to make sure our agenda is not killed, because people are placed into sits, in the senate and the house, who do not care for hearing what we have to say!
We have to vote not only for the top, the presidency, but we have to vote for state representation, and local government which affects us more immediately than does Federal Government. The dollars provided by the Federal Government have to get into the hands of people who are about changing the plight of The People. So, we have to do our part by voting for individuals who are For The People!
Register To Vote At Crazy Dee's Muzic Palace (Warrensville's Compact Disc Store) 20003 Harvard Ave., Warrensville Heights, Ohio 44122.

This November, we have to be sure that President Obama is not hamstrung by a party that is not willing to cooperate with the first African-American President! And, we have to push President Obama to be favorable towards the Black Agenda.

Stacey Bell from WJW Fox 8 News asked this question:
Next month, I'm hosting an event at the YMCA. One of the panel discussions will focus on young girls and low self esteem issues, so I've got a question. Do you know anybody who struggles with low self esteem? If so, what exactly is their stuggle, is it looks, weight or just the feeling they aren't good enough? We're trying to generate topics of conversation for our panel next month. Talk soon, Stacey
I answered her question like this:
It's the images they see on TV. Black girls' hair isn't long enough, White girls' skin isn't tanned enough! Whatever the opposite is, of a group of people, is what is pushed to them as a beauty standard.
What would happen if all of the African-American female news anchors around the city, and the country went totally natural? It would be an esteem builder for young girls coming up, but the bosses wouldn't like it. I've heard it's considered threatening to some whites, in charge, to see African-American women wear their hair natural. But it would be a big self esteem builder for young girls and women growing up in Cleveland & other cities.
But, I don't recommend it! My wife and I had a discussion with three customers who came in to shop with me yesterday. They were intelligent young women, who could hold conversation about important issues concerning politics, inner city conditions, but when they got into the dozens-- the first thing that came out of their mouths was bad hair, and who had the weave that covered up the fact, the most, that one had very little hair! I asked where did you get that old time talk from? Hair is an issue, but what can you do?!

How does it feel to be on the wrong side of history, sincethe Republicans were Dixiecrats before 1965, and courting racism, in the south, after 1965? The Republicans are starting to be eaten up by their ways.Spreading, in my opinion, hate speech and not being able to realize what wordscan steer up will be the Republican Party's end!!

Health Care Reform Bill:
Thousands of Americans with pre-existing conditions covered with quality health care. (Before insurance companies could refuse coverage if you had a pre-existing condition.)
Small Businesses will receive up to 35 percent tax credit on premiums to help insure workers. (Before businesses had to choose between providing health insurance or hiring/firing more workers.)
Seniors/Medicare Beneficiaries receive $250 in rebates to help with the purchase of prescription drugs. (Before seniors had to choose between paying the high cost for prescription drugs or cutting their pills in half/not getting their prescriptions filled.)
Children are covered, and can not be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions. (Before-- children would be denied if they had a minimal condition such as acne.)
Americans don’t have to fear losing health insurance if they get sick. (Before, if you got sick, and could not work, lost your job—you would loose your coverage.)
New health plans— there are no lifetime or restrictive annual limits on the amount of care you can receive from your insurance company. (Before health insurance companies could mandate how many times you could see your doctor.)
Americans are able to choose from affordable health care options. (Before Americans would go without health insurance, and use the emergency room for health concerns. I have personally seen people turned away, at the emergency room, because they did not have health insurance. Now this will no longer happen!)
Young people can stay on their parent’s insurance plan until they are 26 years of age. (Before-- once a person turned 21 to 22 years of age, they had to come off of their parent’s insurance. Today young people need more time to get themselves together. Many are in college or there are exploring their entrepreneurial aspirations!)
Now health care is a right not a privilege! Who could have objections to these reforms that benefit all Americans? I would go further to say, if you have fought or are fighting against health care reform, and you do not have health care insurance-- you are fighting against your best interest, and that is a form of insanity!
If you are have not fought or are not fighting for health care reform, and you do not have health insurance, that is just as insane.
I have health insurance, but I fight and I let my voice be heard for those who do not, because I believe you have to care about the plight of the people. If you don’t, you fall short of what your responsibility as a human being on the planet earth is suppose to be!
Or, for the selfish, if you don’t lookout for others—they will be looking out for you to take your pants, your purse, your jacket, your shoes and sometimes your life.

Soledad O'Brien of CNN asked this question:
Congressional Black Caucus is calling for a dialogue on race after protesters yell the n word at congressmen! Shouldn't we be past this in 2010?
I answered the question like this:
We can never forget... We have to let the youth know about the past, and what is bred in "Whitopia" today. Anytime you live in a place where you see only people who look like you, the media feeds a negative image about a different race, and your people's people moved (white flight) to get away from integrated neighborhoods, you're going to act like animals when it comes down to something you want; especially when you believe you are "the privileged," and you did not receive the correct education about the contributions of all people in the USA! So we will never be passed it until whites move into neighborhoods to truly integrate, not to commit regentrification, and then we can live together in a true multi-cultural community! Until then, we will never get past it!
